The Steel Works
"The Works" describes the life experiences of Henry J. Kaiser, and the chronological history of the construction and operation of the Kaiser Steel mill in Fontana, California between 1943 and 1984. The author names most of the key people who managed the major facilities and describes many of the significant accomplishments and problems experienced during the forty years history of the mill. He lists his opinions of the many reasons the mill failed, the reasons for a bankruptcy, and the reasons California Steel, Inc. has succeeded in profitably operating the rolling mills section of the steel plant for more than twenty-five years.
