Dana Marie Rückert is a nineteen-year-old from Frankfurt, Germany. She is in her final year of high school and plans to pursue a German state law degree. As vice chairwoman of her local youth council, she actively represents young people’s interests, advocating for meaningful change in her city. Her passion for understanding systems of governance and justice naturally aligns with her commitment to advocacy. Living with a port-wine stain, she shares the perspective of a young person embracing self-acceptance and confidence. Through her writing, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their differences and challenge societal beauty standards. Beyond her advocacy and studies, she enjoys playing soccer and tennis, going to the gym with friends, and exploring new perspectives through travel and reading. This anthology is a collective work of sixteen authors who came together to share their stories about living with a skin difference, in the hopes of helping to spread awareness about port-wine stains, AVM, Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome, and Moebius syndrome. After reading these riveting stories, may you all be reminded and shown that compassion and empathy for one another is truly within us.
All proceeds from this book will be donated to the Vascular Anomalies Alliance, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that helps support skin differences and other vascular anomalies and health conditions.
