Call her a catalyst, a spark, an inspiration. Morgan Hartman doesn’t realize it, but her ability to smile through physical and cognitive challenges spurred her parents – Gordon and Maggie Hartman – to do things never before accomplished for individuals with special needs and their families. Morgan not only inspired the creation of a one-of-a-kind theme park but also a unique school and other initiatives benefitting the special-needs community. Ellen has written several children’s books, the latest being The Bus Ride. Remembering many of her experiences as a young child, she has written a timeless story that bonds generations through shared memories.
Located in San Antonio, Texas, Morgan’s Wonderland is the world’s first fully accessible inclusion theme park. The park was built in 2010 by Morgan’s dad, Gordon Hartman, who was inspired to create a place where people of all ages and abilities can play and have fun together. Morgan’s Wonderland offers rides, shows, attractions, and more, including the splashes and fun of our all accessible water park, Morgan’s Inspiration Island. “ If it’s hard to speak—draw and paint your words.” Desiree’s art, often inspired by the innocence of childhood and memories of past generations, is held in private and international collections.
